The words that every little girl dreams about saying when she meets the right person is, “I am engaged!” I am sure you all know where this is going but it is so exciting! My now fiancé and I have been together for almost 3 years.

My family and I went on a 7-day Eastern Caribbean cruise. It was an amazing experience; I will never forget it! We had 3 ports: St.Maarten, St. Thomas, and the Bahamas! This was my first time traveling out of the country and it was so breathtaking! I don’t know if you have ever been on a cruise but on a 7-day cruise 2 nights out of the week the whole ship has a formal night. This is the night where the ladies get dressed up in there fanciest dresses, the men put on suits or tuxes and everyone on board steps it up a couple of notches. Well, my now fiancé chose the second formal evening to “pop the question!”

It was a Friday night and the cruise would be over in a few days. For dinner every night we would all meet in the dining hall. Every night we ate in the dining hall, it was a 4-course meal, the type you would receive from a 5 star fancy restaurant. Well, that night we had just finished a lobster dinner and everything was going great. It was time to order desert and my then boyfriend ordered a round of champagne for both tables; there were 12 of us! He made a toast first to my family, and then he made a special toast to me! That is when all of the magic began to unfold.

He said that he had a special gift for me, and asked if I would come stand by him. Then he got down on one knee and pulled the treasure chest shaped box out of his pants pocket! He asked if I would marry him and be his wife! I still remember the feeling I had in my stomach as I shouted “absolutely!”
