The Perfect Flowers

The wedding is right around the corner and it is time to make some major decisions. One of the biggest choices is what flower arrangements you will use for your big day. I have always known that I wanted the combination of red roses and lime green cymbidium orchids.

Our ceremony is going to be outside with a beautiful view of mountains and a golf course.  At the ceremony site there is a gazebo and a cement ground. The chairs we are using are white and they will have red rose and lime green orchid arrangements at the corner of the chairs bordering the aisle. The walk way will be a white carpet covered in red rose petals.

As for the reception I love the look of submerged flowers. For all of the main tables I have decided to go with 20-inch tall vases filled with 2 calla lilies and a little river rock at the bottom. As for the head table, which I have about 5 tables combined for I plan on submerged lime green orchids again with a little river rock at the bottom, sticking to the same vases and theme. All of these centerpieces are placed on a mirror and surrounded by votive candles. The tables are going to have a white table covering and then a square black sheet under the mirror and centerpiece. The chair coverings are white with black bows.

The Perfect Decorations

How do you come up with the perfect decorations for a wedding? Well if you are on top of your planning, which all brides should be, you have already chosen your colors. Once you have your colors picked out your decorations should be created around that color scheme.

If you do not have your colors picked out you need to do that before moving forward. Since most of you have your colors picked out, think about why you picked those colors and how they represent you and your special day. For example my wedding colors are black and white. When I think of black and white I think of a formal wedding representing a black tie affair.

Therefore all of my decorations are based off of the theme of a black tie affair. My decorations include tuxedo chocolate covered strawberries, a chocolate fountain, a black grand piano, red roses, tall formal vases and lots of candles. Think about how your colors and theme can be expressed through decorations and you should have a solid list of ideas.

The Wedding Colors

A decision that lays an important foundation is the colors of your wedding. Once you know the colors you can start to move into other categories such as bridesmaid dresses, flowers, decorations etc. Since I have already picked the perfect place for my wedding venue, it helps me shape my vision of the perfect day. If you have not chosen your wedding venue yet then I would wait until you have your venue locked into place before choosing the colors. The reason I say this is because depending on your final venue, your color ideas may change when the scenery of your venue changes.

The inside colors of the venue I have chosen for the reception has a lot of reds, blacks, ivories and silvers. Now I am going for a more contemporary wedding ceremony, but I still want it in the summer time and outside but more towards the evening. After looking at a variety of pictures using these colors with the green grasses, and water backgrounds I have chose red, black, silver, and ivory. Your perfect colors will come to you but not always the ways you expect them to come. Always keep your eyes out for your perfect vision and the colors that complete your vision will become very clear!
