My husband and I had the most amazing honeymoon! We chose to go to Maui for 10 days and I couldn’t be more thrilled about our decision. First of all, no matter what time of the year it is - you are guaranteed to have good weather. Also, the environment is low key and the beach is literally steps away (we stayed at a condo in Kihei) if you stay at the right place!
Everyday was a new adventure for us. Since we didn’t pack much luggage, my husband and I did a lot of local shopping on our first day there. Where we live there is not much selection when it comes to summer clothes. So we both needed new swimsuits, tanks tops and just cooler clothing to survive the Hawaii heat. After an afternoon of shopping it was time to hit the beach. It was pretty windy the first day we were there, but we discovered a beach that was protected from the wind and stayed there the rest of the day. On Thursday we rented a cabana in Kaanapali. Cabanas are great because they protect you from the sun and heat. On Friday we spent the day relaxing and then that evening we went to a Matt Costa concert at the Hard Rock cafe in Lahaina. The concert was great and since we were newlyweds we ended up winning concert tickets to Ziggy Marley for that Sunday. Saturday we spent the day snorkeling at Makena beach, also known as turtle beach. At turtle beach we saw at least 10 turtles - it was pretty cool! On Sunday we went to Ziggy Marley concert - which was an all day event. Monday morning was one of my favorite days in Maui. I learned how to surf for the first time. Surfing by far is one of the coolest experiences I have ever had. I never knew I would not only be able to get up on a surfboard, but also stay up on a surfboard! On Tuesday I was so sore that I had to take the day off from surfing, but I was able to take pictures of my husband surfing. For our last full day in Maui we decided to go to Lahaina for the day. We did a little more shopping and then we had happy hour at Moose McGillycuddy’s. After that we spent the evening shopping and then we went to a nice dinner.
I did not want to leave my Maui honeymoon! In fact when it was time to leave I had to convince myself that our honeymoon was over and reality was waiting for us back in the states. If you are undecided about where to spend your honeymoon – Maui gets my vote!!!!
OK, so I know that the wedding is still seven months away but it is never too early to start planning the honeymoon. My fiancé and I decided the perfect place for us to go is Maui. There were many reasons we came to this conclusion. For starters our wedding is in August and we want to take our honeymoon right after the wedding. You have to be careful where you go in August because that is prime time hurricane season in some areas. For example we were looking into Jamaica and we had to toss that out because we did not want to risk hurricane season. We looked into cruises and again the summer time is not the best time of the year to go on a cruise. Especially to the Caribbean, the only cruises we could find were to Alaska and we wanted somewhere warm and tropical for our honeymoon, not cold!
Your honeymoon is up to you but be sure to research all your options before deciding on the perfect place. If you are overwhelmed and clueless on where to start, go slow by first deciding the climate you are looking for. Once you know what climate you are after you can start making a list of all the places that match that criteria. After that go through the list one by one and look at location, cost, weather, availability etc.
I hope this list will get you off on the right foot of your honeymoon planning!
After you have worked hard to get all of the main wedding details locked in, it is time to start planning the Honeymoon! When looking at Honeymoon destinations you always want to keep an open mind. There are so many different areas of the world to consider!
One of the most popular destinations for Honeymoons is The Caribbean. One of the best ways to visit these areas in my opinion is a cruise! A cruise is nice because it is all inclusive, the food is excellent and you can go and visit the different ports and always have somewhere comfortable to come back to. We felt it is the best bang for your buck!
There are many different locations to choose from when you are looking into cruises. There is the Eastern Caribbean which includes: Saint Maartin, Saint Thomas, and the Bahamas which is always a nice way to go. My fiancé and I recently just got back from a cruise that went all of these places and it was beautiful. There were even some Honeymooners on the cruise! I thought there were a lot of very romantic places and each of the places we went was breath taking in there own way!
Now the Western Caribbean although I have never been I have heard amazing things about! The areas that are part of the Western Caribbean include: Cozumel, Mexico, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, Montego Bay, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. This is an option that my fiancé and I are considering! We both would like to go on another cruise for our Honeymoon because he proposed to me on are Eastern Caribbean cruise and we feel it would be suiting!
If you decide to go with one of these two options I am sure you will not be disappointed!
