3 Weeks and Counting

greenseyes2 All right so I am now less then 3 weeks away from the big day! On Saturday I had my makeup trial run and my bachelorette party. Needless to say it was one crazy weekend! My makeup appointment was at 10am and I was so excited for it and my bachelorette party I could not sleep practically all night.

When I got to my makeup appointment I have to admit I was a little nervous. It was my first time ever having my makeup professionally done and I did not know what to expect.

Let me tell you I was very pleasantly surprised! The lady that is doing my makeup has over 15 years of experience and she knows exactly what she is doing. Her name is Kim King and she is amazing with Mac makeup! She is located in Portland but will come to you on your special day. I showed her a few pictures that I had in mind and once we talked a little about my goals - she went to town!

My full look took about an hour - and I looked incredible! Kim used a lot of purples and gold’s, which brought my eyes out to the fullest! I have green eyes and using the purples really brought them out. I also had her put on fake eyelashes. My eyes were so beautiful! I am so excited to have my makeup done again one last time before the wedding ☺

Stay tuned my next post will update you on my crazy bachelorette night!!!!

The Never Ending Wedding Checklist

wed-checklist With our wedding 26 days away the checklist seems to be never ending. I have to admit every time we get something accomplished it does feel good to cross it off - but there seems to be so much to do and the wedding is right around the corner.

I think I am currently in a state of shock as the big day gets closer and closer. This week we have our last and final meeting with the DJ before the rehearsal. We also have are first session of couple counseling and to top it off we have family coming to stay with us in the middle of it all.

I had my last bridal dress fitting and my dress fits perfect! All of my accessories are ready to go along with my fabulous dress!

I am pleased to say that my bridesmaid dresses are right on track - thanks to an amazing mom! One of my bridesmaids has a final fitting tonight and after she has her final fitting there are only a few more girls that need there final fittings and then the girl’s dresses are done!

This weekend is a pretty big weekend for me as well! On Thursday I have my trial airbrush tan so that I will have a good idea of what my tan will look like on my wedding day. Along with that I have my trial makeup run on Saturday morning and then Saturday night is my big bachelorette night!

With so much going on I will be sure to keep you posted how everything goes!

Bridal Party Order

bridal_party_gallery   With the wedding almost a month away there are a lot of small decisions that still need to be made. One of these is the bridal party order. When I think about all my bridesmaids it is hard to put them in order of importance. I have 6 bridesmaids and all of them have been or are becoming a major part of my life.

I have two sisters, which I am very close to so therefore I have a matron of honor and a maid of honor. I also have a 2 future sister in laws and also 2 of my closest friends from over the years. My fiancé on the other hand has one brother, which is his best man, a future brother in law, 3 close friends and a cousin.

We decided that instead of putting everyone in order of importance (exception being the maid/matron of honor and best man that we would do our bridal party by height. We felt everyone is of equal importance to us and we did not want to hurt anyone’s feelings.

Our bridal party order goes from the groomsmen tallest to shortest and the bridesmaids are lined up accordingly.

If you are trying to choose the order of your bridal party there are many things to consider:

1. You can do it by height - short to tall or vice versa

2. You can do it in order of importance - family vs. friends (considering height or not)

3. You can do it in order of importance not considering family or friends or height

As the bride it is all up to you! Good Luck!!!

The Wedding Count Down

wedding-calendar We are now 40 days away from the big event! We got our invitations out last Tuesday and we are now starting to get the RSVP’s back. The RSVP’s are one of the most important parts of the wedding process. I feel like it is Christmas every time I open a reply!

Once we know how many people are coming we can plan our budget out and get a feel for the whole day! So far we have only gotten five responses back but I have a feeling we are going to get a bunch of them over the next week. July 11th is the cut off day for people to mail back their RSVP’s, which is also my bachelorette party!

The other details that are still a work in progress include the wedding programs, the menu cards and the place setting name cards. Hopefully we will get them done by the end of the week. Other then that we have the flowers picked out, we have the all the major vendors locked into place and all the small details are getting taken care of.

One thing that my fiancé and I still need to do is choose all the music for the reception. Our DJ’s website has all the tools we need. We can listen to music and then check to have the song played, not have it played or play only if there is time.

To help save on time my fiancé and I have decided to ask some of our close family and friends for music suggestions. This helps in two ways - first of all it involves other people and makes them feel included and the second thing it does is cut down the work for us.

If you have not chosen your music for your reception I encourage you to think about asking other people for help on song choices!

Good luck fellow brides! I look forward to keeping you updated on all the next up coming events!
